Celebrate Mother's Day!

Happy May, CMBC members! This month welcomes warmer weather, flowers, sunny skies, and Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12, and we have prepared two DIY crafts that you can give your mother or mom figure for Mother’s Day this year! Let’s celebrate all of the amazing mothers and everything they do for us!

Rolled Paper Roses Mother’s Day Basket

What You Need:

  • Colored construction paper (green, brown, and your choice of colors for flowers)

  • White construction paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue stick

  • Pencil

  • Marker or pen

  • Tape

Directions:

  1. Start by cutting the shape of a basket out of brown construction paper and glue it onto a piece of white construction paper.

2. Cut circles for your flowers out of the colored construction paper. You can do different colors for the flowers or all the same colors.

3. Once you have cut out your circles, cut them into spirals.

4. Start rolling the spirals from the outside into the center, then tape the spiral.

5. Tape flowers on top of the basket on the white construction paper.

6. Cut out small strips of brown construction paper and glue them on the basket vertically, then repeat horizontally, overlapping and creating a weaving effect.

7. Cut leaves out of green construction paper and glue them around the flowers.

8. Lastly, cut out a small rectangle, write a Mother’s Day message on it, and add it to the basket!

Handprint Mother’s Day Card

What You Need:

  • Purple construction paper

  • Red construction paper

  • Pink construction paper

  • Black Sharpie or pen

  • Scissors

  • Glue stick

Directions:

  1. Fold a piece of purple construction paper in half.

  2. Trace your handprint; have your pinkie finger close to the folded part of the paper.

3. Cut out your handprint.

4. Cut three equally sized hearts out of red construction paper.

5. Glue the three hearts together and then glue them to the center of the handprint card.

6. Add cute decorations, such as stickers, rhinestones, or just small hearts out of paper.

7. Then, write your messages on each page; this is where you can be as creative as you would like! You can add photos or drawings instead of messages if you prefer.

Enjoy creating and giving these Mother's Day crafts! For all the mothers out there reading this, we hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day!
