Hi, Clubbers!
One of my favorite movies growing up was Balto. This movie tells the true story of a sled dog named Balto who led his team through Alaska’s wilderness to deliver life-saving medicine to the sick children of Nome in 1925. The bravery shown by Balto, the mushers, and their sled teams along the Iditarod Trail is celebrated every March during Alaska's Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race starts in Anchorage and ends in Nome and can last for two weeks. There's even a (much shorter) Junior Iditarod for kids ages 14-17. The Iditarod Trail is celebrating its 50th race this year on March 5th. You can learn more about Iditarod in the free activity and coloring pages below. Grab your crayons and "race" to it!
