Make a “Tie-Breaking” Father’s Day Card

Hi there, CMBC members! Father’s Day (June 16, 2024) is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a cute handmade card? This will make the perfect gift for your father, grandfather, or father figure, so follow along below as we walk you through making this adorable Father’s Day card!

What You’ll Need:

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Pen, Sharpie, or marker

  • 3 different colors of construction paper

Directions:

  1. Pick out one of the construction paper sheets and trifold it. Make sure to overlap your sides enough that you can glue them together.

2. Pull out a second sheet of paper and mark where the pocket you created ends. This will be where you cut so that you can slide the paper inside the pocket you have created.

  1. Measure about two fingers' width of space. Draw a line from the outside edge of the paper, but leave a third of the paper in the middle. Cut along the lines.

  1. Fold those edges and glue the corners together to form your shirt collar.

  1. Take a third sheet of the construction paper and fold it in half. Trace or sketch out the shape you want your tie to have on the folded side of the paper.

  1. Cut along the line to get your tie shape. Color or decorate however you want.

  1. Glue your tie onto your “shirt”. Make sure it lines up with where your collar would be.

  1. Write your Father’s Day message onto the shirt and slide it back into the pocket.

  1. Feel free to draw on “buttons” or other decorations to your shirt and you’re all set to go!

Thanks to TKFinds for the amazing idea!
